Release: PS4 Emulator Spine v20220517, improves compatibility
Spinedev has released this week an update to the PS4 Emulator Spine. This new release, 20220517, seems to improve compatibility with multiple games. This emulator remains experimental but shows promising enhancements.
What is Spine PS4 Emulator?

Spine is a PS4 emulator running on Linux, that is generally considered to be in private development, but a demo has been available for some time. According to its developer, it is the first publicly available PS4 emulator to be able to launch commercial games, compared to other work in progress such as Orbital.
As a reminder, Spinedev has chosen to keep the emulator closed source for now, to avoid seeing a spread of forks which could dilute the effort in such an early stage. That being said, parts of the source can actually be found on the demo github.
What’s new in Spine 2022/09/01?
This new release generally improves compatibility. This version does not contain any Readme, so users are left to guess what’s changed. Zecoxao and other users have shared a few videos, screenshots and comments on what’s changed. Check in particular the videos by John Godgames below, showcasing the following games running on Spine:

Some glitches can make the games…interesting
You will obviously see many glitches/rendering issues in the process, sometimes making the games unplayable, but there’s not denying that PS4 emulation is here and confirmed

The compatibility list from the last release (late last year) showed that about 35% of the approx. 1000 tested games actually run. 40% of games were able to launch the intro of the game, and the remaining 25% didn’t run at all. It appears that compatibility has significantly improved since then, but we’ll need the community to run tests and let us know what it really looks like now
