Universal Media Server pre-release version 13.4.1 released on patreon and version 13.4.0 made public

Published a new update for Universal Media Server , version 13.4.1 is currently available on the Patreon and for all those people who have decided to support the development of the media server.

 

Meanwhile, the build of the previous version 13.4.0 has been made public. Changes made in this pre-release include fixes for playback of Dolby Vision and HDR content, improvements in web player video playback, and fixes for DLNA/UPnP change detection.

The development team strives to maintain a balance between stability and adding new features, taking user feedback into consideration.

With the proper knowledge, anyone could still compile the updated version. The source code can be found in the  official repository .

DLNA browsing

  • When browsing a TV show in the Media Library, all videos from all seasons are visible (in version 9 you had to go into a season folder first).  You can still choose a season to filter by a specific.
  • There are two new folders inside the  Movies  and  TV Shows folders  –  Filter by Progress  and  Filter by Information .
    • Filter by Progress contains the Watched  and  Unwatched  folders   that were previously located in the  Videos folder  in  the Media Library .
    • Filter by Information  allows you to filter videos based on a new rich set of metadata (actors, genres, country, director, genre, IMDb rating, release date).
  • Next to this is a similar folder  Filter by Information that allows you to filter videos based on API metadata (actors, genres, etc..).
  • The new  Recently Added,  Recently Played,  In Progress and  folders Most Played are located in  Media Library .

Web interface

  • Added breadcrumbs to the top of each page.
  • In the  TV Shows area  of  ​​the Media Library , the TV shows themselves appear as thumbnails, with cover art from the API.
  • When you browse a TV show, movie or TV episode, the API metadata is displayed along with a large cover image, including actors, awards, country, directors, genres, storyline, ratings, start year, and total seasons.
  • On the previous pages, the page colors are based on the cover image.
  • Clicking on an individual actor, country, director, genre, or starting year brings up a list of other media that matches that metadata.
  • The latest items in the  Recently Added,  Recently Played,  In Progress and  folders Most Played are displayed on the first page.
  • Every TV show and movie has an IMDb icon and a direct link if one is found.
  • Cover art of folders and media are shown.

  • Windows has limited support from XP onwards, but full support starts from Windows 7 onwards.
  • Full support for macOS 10.10+.

It is recommended (but usually not necessary) to delete the  UMS.conf file  before installing this version. Windows users can choose the “clean install” option during installation. It may be necessary to uninstall the previous version.

Note: For Linux users it is recommended to delete the folder rendererbefore upgrading to this new version.
