PS Vita Release: The Four of Us Are Dying – Horror/Survival Game (FuHEN contest entry)

Submissions have been going on for the FuHEN PS Vita Homebrew contest, (yes, I am playing catchup with some of the releases, I do intend to talk about all of them but time is short) and today’s submission is a very impressive survival game in the Alan Wake style: The four of us are dying, by developer Josh Allen a.k.a. Noradninja.

What is “The four of us are dying” for PS Vita

The Four of us are ding is a horror/survival game for the PS vita, with impressive graphics as far as homebrew games are concerned. The gameplay is still light at the moment at it feels more like an (impressive) tech demo, but the developer promises more to come soon. Noradninja has been working on it for many months already, sharing his progress on Youtube for more than a year.

From the developer:

A Silent Hill 2/Alan Wake style survival horror game. I am striving to push the Vita as hard as possible towards modern AAA quality visuals as well as giving us a proper survival horror game on the platform.

This game has been on my mind for almost 20 years, and I am really looking forward to the community getting to try it and getting feedback. I plan to update it as frequently as possible to add even more features and functionality.

As a reminder you will need a hacked PS Vita to run homebrew games. Hacking your PS Vita is a super easy and safe process nowadays (our guide here).

Installation instructions

Install as normal via VitaShell.

Controls are accessible with the Select Key once you start a game.

Please note:

  • You start with an antiseptic, a stimulant, and four batteries in your inventory.
  • Rear touchpad inventory pockets are not implemented yet, as I need animations and am not an animator.
  • Gamma adjust is not fully implemented yet.
  • Y axis view invert is next on my list, for those that prefer it.
