Published a new update for the Direct Package Installer application , the tool for Windows PC, Linux and Android devices allows us to view and send PKG files on the PlayStation 4 console .

This new release aims to fix for the fourth time a problem in Zippyshare file hosting that randomly created javascript scripts to prevent tools like Direct Package Installer .

Zippyshare is challenging bots accuracy with fake/broken javascript, it can be a pain for other tools, but since Direct Package Installer has real javascript engine included it became trivial to fix it.

Operation

The application simply uses the API to send the URL address for downloading the PKG file over the network to the PS4 console, helping you to preview the PKG you are installing.

Having said that the tool can do even more, the PS4 has very poor speed for downloading files from the web but this is limited to WAN connections, when you are downloading something from the LAN connection it can achieve faster speeds instead.

To overcome this problem, starting from this version the developer has introduced support for the automatic proxy server, the console will therefore be able to download PKG files more quickly.

The tool also allows you to install PKG files from archives .rar, a feature similar to the solution undertaken by other applications, but with the advantage that all operations are performed simultaneously.

This means that while the file is being downloaded from the internet, the same file is temporarily decompressed onto disc and sent to the PlayStation 4 console .

Direct download mode

Run the homebrew Remote Package Installer on the PS4.
Run DirectPackageInstaller application on PC.
Enter a URL address for direct download in the “URL PKG” field of the program.
Click “Load” and wait.
Click “Install” and wait again.
Done, you can close DirectPackageInstaller or shut down your computer.

Proxy download mode (faster)

Run the homebrew Remote Package Installer on the PS4.
Run DirectPackageInstaller application on PC.
Go to Options -> Proxy Downloadsand select the option.
Enter a URL address for direct download in the “URL PKG” field of the program.
Click “Load” and wait.
Click “Install” and wait again.
Done, you can’t close DirectPackageInstaller.

Segmented download mode (faster)

Make sure you have enough free disk space on your computer.
Run the homebrew Remote Package Installer on the PS4.
Run DirectPackageInstaller application on PC.
Go to Options -> Segmented Downloadsand select the option.
Enter a direct download URL in the “URL PKG” field in the window.
Click on “Load” and wait.
Click “Install” and wait for the PKG to be preloaded.
Done, you can’t close DirectPackageInstaller.

Download from compressed files (always proxy)

Run the homebrew Remote Package Installer on the PS4.
Run DirectPackageInstaller application on PC.
Enter a URL address for direct download of the compressed file in the “URL PKG” field.
Click “Load” and wait.
[Optional] Select the correct PKG file in the file list.
Click “Install” and wait again.
Done, don’t close DirectPackageInstaller or shut down your computer.

Warnings

Due to random access issues in compressed files, the RAR Direct Download feature may not be as reliable, although tested in some games, it has not been tested enough to guarantee its reliability.
The proxy feature itself has been shown to work in games over 90GB and I believe it is relatively stable as it depends on your internet connection and download server.
Compressed file downloads generate a temporary PKG “cache” on your hard drive, which will require free space based on the size of the PKG file on your hard drive.
